Now that you know the five CAGED minor chord shapes, try playing songs with them. Okay – this isn’t exactly practical because not all of the CAGED shapes are easy to grab and they don’t sound that great. Consider this a challenge to see how well you really know the shapes. There are two familiar chord progressions on this page. Try to play them using CAGED shapes.

Black Magic Woman

Not like Fleetwood Mac (Peter Green) or Carlos Santana plays it. Use the CAGED shapes to play the chord progression. Remember – the point isn’t to learn to play Black Magic Woman. The point is to apply CAGED chords to a musical example.
